Choose Life!
Deu 30:15 Behold,
I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil;
Deu 30:16 in that
I command you this day to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to
keep his mitzvot and his statutes and his ordinances, that you may live and
multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you go in
to possess it.
Deu 30:17 But if
your heart turn away, and you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and
worship other gods, and serve them;
Deu 30:18 I
denounce to you this day, that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong
your days in the land, where you pass over the Yarden to go in to possess it.
Deu 30:19 I call
heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you
life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you
may live, you and your seed;
Deu 30:20 to
love the LORD your God, to obey his voice, and to cleave to him; for he is your
life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in the land which the
LORD swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov, to give
them.
“The necessity of choice, if “life” meant
only biological life, there would be no choice. The choice is rather between life IN THE COVENANT and life NOT IN
THE COVENANT. From this viewpoint
biological existence and even prosperity, If not in the covenant, constitutes
death.
Strongs Hebrew #2416 Chay h
Chay-living, alive, have life, remain alive,
sustain life, live prosperously, live forever, remain alive, sustain life, be
quickened, revive from sickness, discouragement or even death, vigerous, raw,
fresh running (water)
The Hebrews viewed man holistically i.e. body,
mind & spirit, a unified whole. Life
was associated with health, prosperity, vitality etec. While death was the very opposite.
The Tenach puts a real premium upon life as
being intrinsically good. It comes from
God/YHWH (Gen 3:22). God/YHWH is the Source of Life (Psalms 36:9, 139:13) and
the Lord of life and death (Numbers 27:16, Deut 32:39, Job 12:10)
Chay is a set of experiences not an abstract
principle of vitality which is separate from the body.
Deu 30:20 to love the LORD your God, to obey his
voice, and to cleave to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days
We are
to CHOOSE, to Love God, Obey His Voice and Cleave to Him, for HE IS OUR LIFE, The
LENGTH OF OUR DAYS!
When we
CHOOSE LIFE, we walk in His protection – Psalm 91
We are either walking in
the realm of Life or the realm of Death.
YHWH is telling us to CHOOSE LIFE!
It is our CHOICE. Yeshua Is Our
Life, and In Him (The Living Torah) are the Blessings.
Yeshua is called:
John 14:6 – The Way, The Truth & The Life
Col 3:4 – Our Life
John 6:35 – Bread of Life
John 11:25 – Resurrection and Life
To Choose Life is to Choose Yeshua Ha Mashiach and to be
obedient to His Torah (Teachings & Instructions)
