Exo 35:1 Moshe assembled
all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, and said to them, "These
are the words which the LORD has commanded, that you should do them.
Exo 35:1 Moshe assembled all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, and said to them, "These are the words which the LORD has commanded, that you should do them.
Exo 35:2 'Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be a holy day for you, a Shabbat of solemn rest to the LORD: whoever does any work in it shall be put to death.
Exo 35:3 You shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations on the day of Shabbat.'"
The Shabbat was set aside so Israel could rest from their
labors and worship YHWH. It was also a
sign of His covenant with Israel and a time of worship and fellowship with YHWH
in His Holy Tabernacle.
Yeshua clarifies the purpose of the Shabbat in Matthew/Mattiyahu
12:1-13- It is lawful to do good on the Shabbat.
Mat 12:1 At that time,
Yeshua went on the day of Shabbat through the grain fields. His talmidim were
hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.
Mat 12:2 But the
Perushim, when they saw it, said to him, "Behold, your talmidim do what is
not lawful to do on the Shabbat."
Mat 12:3 But he said to
them, "Haven't you read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who
were with him;
Mat 12:4 how he entered
into the house of God, and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat,
neither for those who were with him, but only for the Kohanim?
Mat 12:5 Or have you not
read in the Torah, that on the day of Shabbat, the Kohanim in the temple
profane the Shabbat, and are guiltless?
Mat 12:6 But I tell you
that one greater than the temple is here.
Mat 12:7
But if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not
sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless.
Mat 12:8 For the Son of
Man is Lord of the Shabbat."
Mat 12:9 He departed
there, and went into their synagogue.
Mat 12:10 And behold
there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, "Is it lawful to
heal on the day of Shabbat?" that they might accuse him.
Mat 12:11 He said to
them, "What man is there among you, who has one sheep, and if this one falls
into a pit on the day of Shabbat, won't he grab on to it, and lift it out?
Mat 12:12 Of how much
more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the
day of Shabbat."
Mat 12:13 Then he told
the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out; and it was
restored whole, just like the other.
Also Yeshua taught again that He is Adonai of Shabbat and that
Shabbat was given to us as a gift not as a burdon in Mark 2:27-28
Mar 2:27 He said to them, "The Shabbat was made
for man, not man for the Shabbat.
Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the
Shabbat."
Torah Portion Continued- Heartfelt Gifts for the Tabernacle:
Exo 35:4 Moshe spoke to all
the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, saying, "This is the thing
which the LORD commanded, saying,
Exo 35:5 'Take from among you
an offering to the LORD. Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, the
LORD's offering: gold, silver, brass,
The Stone Edition Chumash
“ The verse’s stress on the motivation of the donor
indicates that the primary requirement is not the monetary value of the
gift-God is in no need of our contributions-but the givers inner desire to
elevate and unite himself with Him (Or HaChaim) p. 517
Yeshua and the Widows Mite Mark 12:41-44, she gave more
then the ones who were rich, because she gave all she had out of pure motives,
because of her love for YHWH. It is not the size of the gift, but the size of
the heart that is giving it.
Mar 12:41 Yeshua sat down opposite
the treasury, and saw how the multitude cast money into the treasury. Many who
were rich cast in much.
Mar 12:42 A poor widow came,
and she cast in two small brass coins, which equal a quadrans coin.
Mar 12:43 He called his
talmidim to himself, and said to them, "Most certainly I tell you, this
poor widow gave more than all those who are giving into the treasury,
Mar 12:44 for they all gave
out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, gave all that she had to
live on."
Exo 35:6 blue, purple,
scarlet, fine linen, goats' hair,
Exo 35:7 rams' skins dyed
red, sea cow hides, shittim wood,
Exo 35:8 oil for the light,
spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense,
Exo 35:9 shoham stones, and
stones to be set for the efod and for the breastplate.
Exo 35:10 "'Let every
wise-hearted man among you come, and make all that the LORD has commanded:
Exo 35:11 the tent, its outer
covering, its roof, its clasps, its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets;
Exo 35:12 the ark, and its
poles, the mercy seat, the veil of the screen;
Exo 35:13 the table with its
poles and all its vessels, and the show bread;
Exo 35:14 the menorah also
for the light, with its vessels, its lamps, and the oil for the light;
Exo 35:15 and the altar of
incense with its poles, the anointing oil, the sweet incense, the screen for
the door, at the door of the tent;
Exo 35:16 the altar of burnt
offering, with its grating of brass, it poles, and all its vessels, the basin and
its base;
Exo 35:17 the hangings of the
court, its pillars, their sockets, and the screen for the gate of the court;
Exo 35:18 the pins of the
tent, the pins of the court, and their cords;
Exo 35:19 the finely worked
garments, for ministering in the holy place, the holy garments for Aharon the
Kohen, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the Kohen's office.'"
Exo 35:20 All the
congregation of the children of Yisra'el departed from the presence of
Moshe.
Exo 35:21 They came, everyone whose heart stirred him up, and everyone whom his spirit made willing, and brought the LORD's offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all of its service, and for the holy garments.
The Stone Edition Chumash p. 519
“Whose heart inspired him (lit., uplifted him). This term refers to those who came to do the
work of weaving, sewing, building, and so on.
Due to the conditions in Egypt, there were no Jewish[3]
artisans, since the Egyptians did not train them or permit them to develop
their talent for the finer skills.
Nevertheless, there were Jews who, though unskilled, had natural
ability, and they were inspired and uplifted to volunteer for whatever had to
be done, confident that God would help them to do His will properly (Ramban).
There were two types of givers; those whose spirit motivated
them to give what they could afford, voluntarily and wholeheartedly. There was an even nobler category of people,
whose heart inspired them to do more than they can afford, so great was their
desire to share in the building of the Tabernacle.”
Rabbi Sha’ul reminds us about the Torah principle of giving:
2Co 9:6 Remember this:
he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will
also reap bountifully.
2Co 9:7 Let each man
give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under
compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.
2Co 9:8 And God is able
to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything,
may abound to every good work.
2Co 9:9 As it is
written, "He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor. His
righteousness remains forever."
2Co 9:10 Now may he who
supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed
for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;
2Co 9:11 you being
enriched in everything to all liberality, which works through us thanksgiving
to God.
2Co 9:12 For this
service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the holy
ones, but abounds also through many givings of thanks to God;
2Co 9:13 seeing that
through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of
your confession to the Good News of Messiah, and for the liberality of your contribution
to them and to all;
2Co 9:14 while they
themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of
the exceeding grace of God in you.
2Co 9:15 Now thanks be
to God for his unspeakable gift!
All of Israel had a part in the building of the Tabernacle,
they used whatever they had to give whether it was gold, jewelry, silver,
linens or their talents. They ALL
contributed. YHWH has put into everyone
of us gifts and talents that are to be used for His glory and the building of His Tabernacle. We ALL have something to contribute to the building of His
Tabernacle. We all have something to
contribute to the work of YHWH in our local Congregations. If we cannot give monetarily, we can give
of ourselves to the work of YHWH.
Rabbi Sha’ul brings this principle out in 1 Corinthians
12. We all need one another, we all
need to use our gifts in the Body of Messiah for the good of everyone. We all have a part in the building of His
Holy Tabernacle which is the Body of Messiah.
1Co 12:4 Now there are
various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co 12:5 There are
various kinds of service, and the same Lord.
1Co 12:6 There are
various kinds of workings, but the same God, who works all things in all.
1Co 12:7 But to each one
is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.
1Co 12:8 For to one is
given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of
knowledge, according to the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 to another
faith, by the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, by the same
Spirit;
1Co 12:10 and to another
workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of
spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the
interpretation of languages.
1Co 12:11 But the one
and the same Spirit works all of these, distributing to each one separately as
he desires.
1Co 12:12 For as the
body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many,
are one body; so also is Messiah.
Co 12:13 For in one
Spirit we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond
or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit.
1Co 12:14 For the body
is not one member, but many.
1Co 12:15 If the foot
would say, "Because I'm not the hand, I'm not part of the body," it
is not therefore not part of the body.
1Co 12:16 If the ear
would say, "Because I'm not the eye, I'm not part of the body," it's
not therefore not part of the body.
1Co 12:17 If the whole
body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where
would the smelling be?
1Co 12:18 But now God
has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired.
1Co 12:19 If they were
all one member, where would the body be?
1Co 12:20 But now they
are many members, but one body.
1Co 12:21 The eye can't
tell the hand, "I have no need for you," or again the
head to the feet, "I have no need for you."
1Co 12:22 No, much
rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.
1Co 12:23 Those parts of
the body which we think to be less honorable, on those we bestow more abundant
honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant propriety;
1Co 12:24 whereas our
presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving
more abundant honor to the inferior part,
1Co 12:25 that there
should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same
care for one another.
1Co 12:26 When one
member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored,
all the members rejoice with it.
1Co 12:27 Now you are
the body of Messiah, and members individually.
1Co 12:28 God has set
some in the assembly: first emissaries, second prophets, third teachers, then
miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds
of languages.
1Co 12:29 Are all
emissaries? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?
1Co 12:30 Do all have
gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret?
1Co 12:31 But earnestly
desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.
Exo 35:22 They came, both
men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought brooches, earrings,
signet rings, and armlets, all jewels of gold; even every man who offered an
offering of gold to the LORD.
Exo 35:23 Everyone, with whom was found blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goats' hair, rams' skins dyed red, and sea cow hides, brought them.
Exo 35:24 Everyone who
did offer an offering of silver and brass brought the LORD's offering; and
everyone, with whom was found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought
it.
Exo 35:25 All the women
who were wise-hearted spun with their hands, and brought that which they had
spun, the blue, the purple, the scarlet, and the fine linen.
Exo 35:26 All the women whose
heart stirred them up in wisdom spun the goats' hair.
Exo 35:27 The rulers
brought the shoham stones, and the stones to be set, for the efod and for the
breastplate;
Exo 35:28 and the spice, and
the oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.
Exo 35:29 The children of Yisra'el brought a freewill offering to the LORD; every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all the work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by Moshe.
2Co 9:7
Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not
grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.
The
Tabernacle of Messiah Yeshua who is our Kohen Gadol:
Heb 7:22 By so much, Yeshua has become the
collateral of a better covenant.
Heb 7:23 Many, indeed, have been made Kohanim,
because they are hindered from continuing by death.
Heb 7:24 But he, because he lives forever, has his
priesthood unchangeable.
Heb 7:25 Therefore he is also able to save to the
uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever
to make intercession for them.
Heb 8:1 Now in the things which we are saying, the
main point is this. We have such a Kohen Gadol, who sat down on the right hand
of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
Heb 8:2 a servant of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle,
which the Lord pitched, not man.
Heb 8:3 For every Kohen Gadol is appointed to offer
both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this Kohen Gadol also
have something to offer.
Heb 8:4 For if he were on earth, he would not be a Kohen
at all, seeing there are Kohanim who offer the gifts according to the Torah;
Heb 8:5 who serve a copy and shadow
of the heavenly things, even as Moshe was warned by God when he was about to
make the tabernacle, for he said, "See, you shall make everything
according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain."
Heb 8:6 But now he has obtained a more excellent
ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant,
which has been enacted on better promises.
Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been
faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them,
he said, "Behold, the days come," says the Lord, "that I will
make a new covenant with the house of Yisra'el and with the house of Yehudah;
Heb 8:9 not according to the covenant that I made
with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of
the land of Egypt; for they didn't continue in my covenant, and I disregarded
them," says the Lord.
Heb 8:10 "For this is the
covenant that I will make with the house of Yisra'el. After those days,"
says the Lord; "I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them
on their heart. I will be to them a God, and they will be to me a people.
Heb 8:11 They will not teach every man
his fellow citizen, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all
will know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to
their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no
more."
Heb 8:13 In that he says, "A new
covenant," he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and
grows aged is near to vanishing away.
Heb 9:11 But Messiah having come as a Kohen Gadol of
the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not
made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation,
Heb 9:12 nor yet through the blood of goats and
calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the
Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption.
Heb 9:13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the
ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the
cleanness of the flesh:
Heb 9:14 how much more will the blood of Messiah,
who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse
your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

[3] Just a reminder, all the 12 tribes of Israel contributed to the building of the Tabernacle. Wherever it uses the term Jew or Jewish, it also means Israel, Hebrews and the 12 Tribes of Israel during this time in the wilderness.
