Quote Of The Day:
Torah
Rediscovered – Berkowitz p.15
“Yeshua’s life was one of perfectly living
out the written Torah. His teaching
perfectly clarified and explained the Torah. He was so related to the Torah
that some of His earliest, earliest followers referred to Him as “Ha Torah” The
Living Torah.”
Deborah’s Drash Commentary:
Gleanings From Psalm 119
Exegeses Bible Translation
Vs. 75
I know, O Lord
(Yahveh)
that thy judgements are right (justness) and righteous, and that Thou in faithfulness (trustworthiness) You have afflicted (humbled) me.
The Word afflicted in the verse above, is really
the word humbled, His Torah/Word humbles us.
The Word humble means to lower in esteem or status, to cause to bend the
knee, to knuckle under.
14 If my people, which are called by my
name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from
their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.
2 Chron 7:14 (KJV)
29 When men are cast down, then thou
shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
Job 22:29 (KJV)
15 For thus saith
the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I
dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a
contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to
revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Isaiah 57:15 (KJV)
2 And Jesus
called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said,
Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children,
ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore
shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the
kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoso
shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6 But whoso
shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me,
Matt 18:2-6 (KJV)
10 Humble
yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
James 4:10 (KJV)
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of
you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility:
for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble
yourselves therefore
under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1 Peter 5:5-6 (KJV)
3 For I say,
through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of
himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according
as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Romans 12:3 (KJV)
Pride and arrogance have no place in
the Body of Messiah, and His Torah/Word reminds us that everything we have
comes from Him, our life, our gifts, our talents and that No man can brag or boast in His presence. It takes humility to get saved because you
must bow your knees to Your maker and admit that you are a sinner who can not
save himself and accept the gift of eternal life that Yahweh has give you
through His Son Yeshua Ha Mashiach.
Those of you who have big
ministries, remember that the Lord is the one who gave you the gifts and talents
to have that ministry and can take it away
from you just as quickly if you forget who all the glory should go
to. Yeshua said that if you want to be
great in the Kingdom of God then you must become a servant.
Mattityahu/Matthew
23:1-11
23 1 Then Yeshua addressed the
crowds and his talmidim: 2 “The Torah-teachers and the
P<rushim,” he said, “sit in the seat of Moshe. 3 So
whatever they tell you, take care to do it. But don’t do what they do, because
they talk but don’t act! 4 They tie heavy loads onto people’s
shoulders but won’t lift a finger to help carry them. 5 Everything
they do is done to be seen by others; for they make their t<fillin
broad and their tzitziyot long, 6 they love the place of
honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues, 7 and they
love being greeted deferentially in the marketplaces and being called ‘Rabbi’.
8 “But you are not to let yourselves be called ‘Rabbi’;
because you have one Rabbi, and you are all each other’s brothers. 9 And
do not call anyone on earth ‘Father’, because you have one Father, and he is in
heaven. 10 Nor are you to let yourselves be called ‘leaders’,
because you have one Leader, and he is the Messiah! 11 The greatest
among you must be your servant, 12 for whoever promotes himself will
be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be promoted.[2]
Yeshua clearly states here that the
Torah/Word is to be obeyed. We are to follow the Torah/Word, and follow those
who obey the Word and not just talk about it.
The Torah-Teachers he said are teaching with authority and that they
should be listened to when it comes to matters of the Torah, however, he also
pointed out that they were not to follow their example of arrogance and pride.
We have made “Stars” out of today’s TV and Radio ministers, and in some ways
have magnified them more then the Word of God and Yeshua. We are not to lift any man or woman on a
pedestal, or be in awe of them. Only
Adonai is worthy of our worship, praise and adoration. This is the challenge for all of us that the
Lord has blessed, that we stay HUMBLE before Him and not think more highly of
ourselves then we should.
Vs. 76 Let, I pray Thee, Your merciful kindness
(mercy) be for my comfort (sighing), according to Thy Word (sayings) to Thy
servant
His Torah/Word reveals Himself as a
God of mercy .
6 And shewing
mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Ex 20:6 (KJV)
15 For he saith
to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have
compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it
is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that
sheweth mercy.
17 For the
scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up,
that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared
throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath
he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Thou wilt say
then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20 Nay but, O
man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him
that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the
potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour,
and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his
wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels
of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he
might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had
afore prepared unto glory,
24 Even us, whom
he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
Romans 9:15-24 (KJV)
His Torah/Word is a comfort to us,
because it reveals Gods will to us and we can comfort ourselves knowing that He
delights in performing His Torah/Word in our lives.
4 For whatsoever
things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through
patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Romans 15:4 (KJV)
His Torah/Word gives us hope.
Vs. 77 Let Thy tender mercies come unto me, that I
may live, for Thy law (Torah) is my delight
He showed us His mercy and Love
through Messiah Yeshua/Christ Jesus.
4 But God, who
is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we
were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are
saved;)
6 And hath
raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places
in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the
ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness
toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace
are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift
of God:
9 Not of works,
lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in them.
Eph 2:4-10 (KJV)
Yahweh sent Yeshua to set the captives
free so that we may live free from the bondage of sin and so His Torah could be
planted within our Hearts. Yeshua is The Living Torah, Ha Torah and our delight
should be In Him and His commandments and teaching.

[i] The Psalmist found great value in the Torah of God. Here in Psalm 119 he breaks the Torah down into eight different categories
-Law (Torah) – Connotes the whole will of God as imparted to man for his teaching
-Testimonies (edot)- Revelation (Torah) as a witness of God and His righteousness
-Precepts (pikudim)- Particular guidelines for the Redeemed
-Way (derech) – The path of life delineated for the Redeemed in the Torah
-Commandments (mitzvot)-There is a great reward for walking in them
-Statutes (hukim)—Permanent laws regulating the life of an individual as a member of society
-Ordinances (mishpatim, beter translated “judgments”) The judicial standard for fair dealings
-Word (debar or imrah) – General term for the expressed will of God
