T.L. Osborn “Healing the Sick”

“Our place as Ministers, or believers is not to sympathize with the sick and pity them  because of their pains, but to assume authority on the grounds of Messiah’s/Christ’s substitution and command those pains and sicknesses to leave”

Healing – Our Brit Birket/Covenant Blessing

14 Hebrew and Greek Words That Refer to Bodily Healing[2]

9. IAOMAI

Usage Number: A-2

Part of Speech: Verb

Strong's Number: 2390

Greek Word: iaomai

Usage Notes: "to heal," is used (a) of physical treatment 22Times; in Matt. 15:28, AV, "made whole," RV, "healed;" so in Acts 9:34; (b) figuratively, of spiritual "healing," Matt. 13:15; John 12:40; Acts 28:27; Heb. 12:13; 1Pet. 2:24; possibly, Jas. 5:16 includes both (a) and (b); some mss. have the word, with sense (b), in Luke 4:18. Apart from this last, Luke, the physician, uses the word fifteen times. See WHOLE.

  H. The Greek - IAOMAI Translated

                        1. Healed        Matthew 13:15

                                                Luke 4:18

                                                Luke 5:17

                                                Luke 9:2

                                                John 4:47

Because of unbelief and hardness of the heart they could not receive healing, spiritually or physically from Messiah.  Those who have faith in Yeshua/Jesus, have been given eyes to see and ears to hear what the Ruach HaKodesh is telling us in His Word-Healing belongs to us and Adonai wants us Whole-spirit, soul and body.

14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

  Matt 13:14-16 (KJV)

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

  Luke 4:18 (KJV)

17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

  Luke 5:17 (KJV)

Look at the next portion of scripture, a man was seeking Yeshua so He would heal his son.  What did he do? He asked Yeshua to heal his son, He believed  what  Yeshua told him and He acted on what Yeshua said and His son was healed.   This miracle of healing brought faith to these people and showed them that Yeshua was The Messiah/Ha Masiach and his household became believers in Messiah.

47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

  John 4:47-54 (KJV)

                        2. Healed        Matt. 8:8,13

                                                Mark 5:39

                                                Luke 6:17,19

                                                Luke 7:7

                                                Luke 8:2,47

                                                Luke 17:15

                                                Luke 22:51

                                                John 5:13

                                                Acts 3:11

                                                Acts 28:8

                                                Heb. 12:13

                                                James 5:16

                                                1 Peter 2:24

A Roman Centurian, who  was a believer in Yahweh, knew that Yeshua only had to speak and his servant would be healed.  He had faith in the Living Torah/Word and because of his faith, his servant was healed. Again, Faith in the Living Torah/Word brought healing to his mans household.

5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

  Matt 8:5-13 (KJV)

The Word brings forth Life!  Yeshua is the Torah/Word!

35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

  Mark 5:35-43 (KJV)

The word “Virtue” is really the word Greek word “dunamis” which is translated "power”, explosive power, it is the same word for “Dynomite”. The crowd sought to touch Him, they were reaching out to the Living Torah from whom all healing power flows. Faith in the Messiah, put a demand on the power within Him, the healing power of the Ruach Ha Kodesh/The Holy Spirit and they were healed!

Also note, He healed them ALL!  He didn’t say to some, maybe it is not  Yahweh’s will to heal you today, no He healed them because it was Yahweh’s will for them to be healed based on the Covenants of Israel!  Not one person left not receiving what they came for.

17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

  Luke 6:17-19 (KJV)

10  lepers were cleansed from lepracy, but the one who came back and gave thanks was made WHOLE. In other words, whatever parts of his body that had decayed and rotted away were totally restored!  The others were cleansed and free from the disease, but the one who gave glory to God was made totally whole again!

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests[i]. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

  Luke 17:11-19 (KJV)

Nine of the Lepers were Jewish and belonged to the Abrahamic Covenant , one was a Samaritan, who was considered a stranger and an outcast in Israel.  Yet this stranger was the only one that gave glory to God was made whole, while the 9 who walked in the Covenant Blessings of Abraham were only cleansed.  Why?   Because the Samaritan excercised his faith in the Living Torah/Word, The Messiah of Israel, even though he was not considered to be a part of that Covenant because he was a Samaritan, because of his faith he received total healing!   Nine kept on walking, but the Samaritan turned around and ran back to the feet of Yeshua, taking hold of Him and praised God for his deliverance in a loud voice and was made WHOLE!

49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

  Luke 22:49-53 (KJV)

Even as they were arresting Him, he still brought healing to those who were sending Him to his death. They were only able to take Yeshua/Jesus because Yahweh allowed the power of darkness to have its way, only because it was in Yahweh’s plan, for Yeshua to be the susbsitute for our sins, behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, and all that sin brings –spiritual death, sickness, disease, emotional problems, whatever the results of sin are in our lives (Deut 28: 14ff), Yeshua came to take it away.

The same healing power that Yeshua walked in, resides in us as His talmidim/disciples, we have been given The Name(Ha Shem) of Yeshua, at The Name(Ha Shem) every sickness and disease has to leave, if we have faith in The Name (Ha Shem).

Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

  Acts 3:2-11 (KJV)

12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

  Heb 12:12-13 (KJV)

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

  James 5:16 (KJV)

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

  1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)

                        3. Healing       Acts 10:38

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

  Acts 10:38 (KJV)

                        4. Whole         Acts 4:9-10

9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

  Acts 4:9-10 (KJV)

10. IASIS

Usage Number: B-3

Part of Speech: Noun

Strong's Number: 2392

Greek Word: iasis

Usage Notes: akin to A, No. 2, stresses the process as reaching completion, Luke 13:32, "cures," of the acts of Christ in the days of His flesh; Acts 4:22, 30, "to heal," lit. 'unto healing.'

            I. The Greek - IASIS

                        Means healing & cure

                                                Luke 13:32

                                                Acts 4:29-30

                                                Acts 28:27

31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.

32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

  Acts 4:29-30 (KJV)

Every Messianic/Christian Believer who calls Yeshua Adonai/Jesus Lord is called  to preach the kingdom of YHWH and heal the sick in  The Name of Yeshua.  You do not need a doctorate to lay hands on the sick, only faith in His Torah/Word and faith in The Name of Yeshua.

And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

Luke 9:2 (KJV)
