Meditation Verse

 Matthew 8:14-17

14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Quote Of The Day:

John Alexander Dowie

“Christ declared in the synagogue at Nazareth that He came not only for the purpose of saving, but of healing.  He went about doing good, healing all that were oppressed of the devil, and declared that He had come for that purpose.”

Deborah’s Drash Commentary:

Touch The Hem of His Garment

Mattiyahu/Matthew 9:20-21

20 A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years approached him from behind and touched the tzitzit on his robe. 21 For she said to herself, “If I can only touch his robe, I will be healed.” 22 Yeshua turned, saw her and said, “Courage, daughter! your trust has healed you.” And she was instantly healed.[2]

Mark 5:26-29

24 He went with him; and a large crowd followed, pressing all around him. 25 Among them was a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years 26 and had suffered a great deal under many physicians. She had spent her life savings; yet instead of improving, she had grown worse. 27 She had heard about Yeshua, so she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his robe; 28 for she said,If I touch even his clothes, I will be healed.” 29 lnstantly the hemorrhaging stopped, and she felt in her body that she had been healed from the disease. 30 At the same time, Yeshua, aware that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” 31 His talmidim responded, “You see the people pressing in on you; and still you ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ” 32 But he kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 The woman, frightened and trembling, because she knew what had happened to her, came and fell down in front of him and told him the whole truth. 34 “Daughter,” he said to her, “your trust has healed you. Go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”[3]

She heard about the “Living Torah’’ Messiah Yeshua and was determined to receive the promise of G-d for her healing by taking hold of Yeshua’s tzitzit.  She boldly  proclaimed her faith, and heaven heard because as she reached out and took hold of Yeshua’s anointing she was healed.  She trusted in the Word, and received what she came to get, her healing!

Luke 9:43-44

As he went, with the crowds on every side virtually choking him, 43 a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, 44 came up behind him and touched the tzitzit on his robe; instantly her hemorrhaging stopped. 45 Yeshua asked, “Who touched me?” When they all denied doing it, Kefa said, “Rabbi! The crowds are hemming you in and jostling you!” 46 But Yeshua said, “Someone did touch me, because I felt power go out of me.” 47 Seeing she could not escape notice, the woman, quaking with fear, threw herself down before him and confessed in front of everyone why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 He said to her, “My daughter, your trust has saved you; go in peace.”[4]

How many times have we heard this story of healing told and have not understood what it meant for this woman to touch the Tzitzit on His robe?

According to the Torah in Numbers 15:37-41 every Torah observant Jewish man must wear what is called a Tzitzit on a four cornered garment referred to as a Talit Katan or Kamphot Arba in the Bible.  The term Tzitzit is often referred to as tassle or fringe.

Being raised in a Orthodox Jewish home, Yeshua was required to wear the Tzitzit.  The Tzitzit was to remind them of G-d’s covenant with Moshe. [5]

37 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:

39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

40 That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

41 I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.

  Num 15:37-41 (KJV)

Douglas Wheeler from Mended Wings Minsitry explains  numerical value of The Tzitzit  as follows

“tav” has a numerical value of 400.  The “Yodh” has a numerical value of 10, the “Tzade” has a numerical value of 90.  The number 600 is then derived as follows:

Tzade – numerical value of 90

Yodh – numerical value of 10

Tzade-numerical value of 90

Yodh-numerical value of 10

Tav-numerical value of 400

Total 600

There are five knots and  8 strands which total 13, which gives us a numerical value of 613.  This 613 is the number of the positive and negative Torah laws.

The wrappings numerically are as follows:

Following knot 1 there are 7 wrappings and following knot 2 there are 8 wrappings.  The total of these two wrappings is 15.  The number 10 in Hebrew is designated by the letter or consonant (Yodh).  The number 5 in Hebrew is designated by the letter or the consonant (yodh, hey).  Thus represents the number 15 in Hebrew.  Following the third knot (3) there are 11 wrappings-Six (6) wrappings plus five (5) wrappings equal eleven (11) wrappings.  We must then designate the number 11 in Hebrew.  The number  six (6) in Hebrew is the letter or consonant (vav).  The number five (5) is represented by the letter or consonant (hey) as previously shown.  Therefore, the seven (7) wrappings, the eight (8) wrappings, plus the eleven (11) wrappings represented by six(6) spell out the following:

Yodh hey vav hey – YHWH-G-ds proper name

Following the knot (4) there are 13 wrappings.  The numerical value of these wrappings is somewhat more complicated.  One (1) wrapping plus eight(8) wrappings plus four (4) wrappings equals 13 wrappings.  One (1) in Hebrew is designated by the letter or consonant (aleph).  Eight (8) in Hebrew is the letter (cheth) while the number four (4) is designated by the letter (daleth). The Hebrew word formulated by the 13 wrappings of 1 plus 8 plus 4 is:

Echad

The two words formed by the knots and the wrappings are:

YHWH Echad – YHWH is One

So The Tzitzit represents the Torah/Word and YHWH Echad.  Also there is 1 long blue strand that runs through the Tzitzit called the “Shamash” or “helper” “Servant” strand which represents Messiah Yeshua, the blue stands for The Holy Throne of Glory that G-d sits upon.

The Tzitzit Is also a symbol of authority, of being first and preeminent:

1 And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.

2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.

3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. (This was the Tzitzit)

5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

6 And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.

  1 Sam 24:1-6 (KJV)

By cutting off the Tzitzit he was stripping Saul of his authority.

The Tzitzit Prophetically:

1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

  Mal 4:1-2 (KJV)

What are these “Wings” in the above passage in Malachi?  They are the tzitzit, or tassels worn on the tallit. When the woman with the issue of blood heard that Yeshua was approaching and that He was HaMashiach, the one promised to come with healing in His wings, she decided she had enough of being sick and unclean (due to the issue of blood, see Leviticus 15)and pushed her self through the crowd so that her hand could at least touch the hem (tzitzit) of his garment for she had nothing to loose. She took hold of “The Living Torah”, as she touched His wings “tzitzit” which represented the divine Torah she was healed.

She took hold of “ALL” of the covenant promises when she took hold of Yeshua’s Tzitzit and because of her faith she received the healing she needed for her body  as she took hold of Messiah, The Annointed One.

In Mark 5:41 when he rose Jairus daughter from the dead he said  literally according to some sources, “Rise to my tallit”!

5 While he was still speaking, people from the synagogue official’s house came, saying, “Your daughter has died. Why bother the rabbi any longer?” 36 Ignoring what they had said, Yeshua told the synagogue official, “Don’t be afraid, just keep trusting.” 37 He let no one follow him except Kefa, Ya‘akov and Yochanan, Ya‘akov’s brother. 38 When they came to the synagogue official’s house, he found a great commotion, with people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 On entering, he said to them, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead, she’s just asleep!” 40 And they jeered at him. But he put them all outside, took the child’s father and mother and those with him, and went in where the child was. 41 Taking her by the hand, he said to her, “Talita, kumi!” (which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). 42 At once the girl got up and began walking around; she was twelve years old. Everybody was utterly amazed. 43 He gave them strict orders to say nothing about this to anyone, and told them to give her something to eat.[6]

As Yeshua passed by, they touched his Tzitzit and were made whole

Matthew 14:34-36

34 Having made the crossing, they landed at Ginosar. 35 When the people of the place recognized him, they sent word throughout the neighborhood and brought him everyone who was ill. 36 They begged him that the sick people might only touch the tzitzit on his robe, and all who touched it were completely healed.[7]

Mark 6:56

6 Wherever he went, in towns, cities or country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the tzitzit on his robe, and all who touched it were healed.[8]

The name of Elizah’s mantel is “aderet” in the Hebrew, and means “Tallit of Glory”. Among other things Elijah used his aderet (talit) as:

1.      A prayer shawl – 1 Kings 19:1

2.      . An anointing for service – 1 Kings 10:19

3.      An instrument of power – 2 Kings 2:8

4.      A Transfer of authority – 2 Kings 2:13-14

The Tzitzit was a teaching instrument.  It provided a visual reminder of the commandments of YHWH, and a daily reminder that we to need recognize YHWH as creator and the provider of His creation.

The Prayer Shawl and the Tzitzit also remind us that we are to clothe ourselves with His Word, and we our to bind ourselves to Hashem.

Isaiahs 40:31

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint”

The Hebrew word for “Wait” is “Qavah” means to “twist, to bind like a rope.” When we are wrapped up in His word, and tied up with Him we are covered by His anointing, His strength becomes our strength, His anointing becomes our anointing, His authority over the enemy becomes our authority over the enemy as we speak His Word in The Name of Yeshua the “Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in His wings”.

When my son was sick the Ruach HaKodesh spoke to my heart to anoint my Prayer Shawl and lay it upon my son and pray His promises concerning healing in The Name of Yeshua for health to be restored.      Why? Because it is a symbol of His Torah/Word and promises, It is a symbol of His authority and His anointing, His Name  and His power.    When I brought my son to the doctors his symptoms were saying he was sick, but when they took the blood tests they all came out negative and they doctors just scratched their head.  Why? Because the Son of Righteousness “Yeshua” came with healing on his wings “Tzitzit”.

I have a prayer shawl and I use it when I am in prayer, but the Lord has also instructed me to use it as I pray for the sick, not because the prayer shawl heals, but because it is a symbol of His Torah/Word, His Authority, His Power, His Name and His Annointing all wrapped up (as the Tzitzit) In Yehsua/Jesus (The Living Torah)..

The woman with the issue of blood, who was hemoraging for 12 years knew what the Tzitzit meant, and knew that if she touched the  tzitzit she touched The Annointed One,  Messiah, who  could set her free.  Her faith reached out to touch, The Name, the Living Torah, the Redeemer, The Healer and was made whole!

Baruch atah Adoani elohaynu, melck ha’olam asher kidshanu bemitzvotav vetzivanu l’hitalef ba’tzizit”

“Blessed are You, Adonai, Elohim, King of the Universe, who has made us holy with your commandments and instructed us to wrap ourselves with the Tzitzit”

Deborah’s paraphrase

“Blessed are you Adonai, Elohim, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through the blood of  Messiah and instructed us to wrap ourselves up in your Word (Prayer Shawl and tzitzit), and have anointed us within with your Ruach HaKodesh(Holy Spirit)so we can go into our prayer closet (the prayer shawl) and receive your power, power to pray, power to heal, power to preach your Word, In The Name of Yeshua.  Blessed are you Adonai, Elohim, King of the Universe who has  made us
New creations in Messiah so that your Tzitzit is now  written upon  our hearts and we can take hold of the blessings of Abraham found in Yeshua HaMashiach and receive our healing by touching the Hem of His Garment (Tzitzit)”
