Quote Of The Day:

Rick Goodwin – Maximum Impact by Tim Storrey

“When God says “Without faith its impossible to please me” He is talking to the believer and saying “When you operate in your life, in the level that doesn’t require a draw on that measure of faith I gave you, you can have all the religious activity you want, but that still doesn’t please me.”  What pleases G-d is faith.

Deborah’s Drash Commentary:

Hebrews 11:3 Amplified Translation

3  By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.[3]

Ev eryman’s Talmud – Faith and Prayer[4]

The kinship between God and man, which results from his spiritual  equipment, places upon him the responsibility of proving himself worth of this heavenly gift.  If honor has been conferred upon man by his having been created in the divine likeness, a coreesponding obligation rests upon him of living his life so as to win the approval of his Maker.

What, then is expected of him?  The answer is given in this sentence; Seven qualities avail before the Throne of Glory; faith, righteousness, justice, lovingkindness, mercy , truth and peace (ARN .xxxv11)  These represent the crowning virtures, and first place is assigned to faith  which, indeed, is declared to be the ultimately of rests.  Six hundred and thirteen commandments were addressed to Moses-three hundred and sixty –five prohibitions corresponding to the number of days in the solar year, and two hundred and forty eight positive commands corresponding to the number of limbs in the human body.  David came and reduced them to eleven principles, which are enumerated in Psalm xv.  Isaiah came and reduced them to six; as it is said, “He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiteth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth, his eyes from looking upon evil’” (Isaiah XXXiii, 15).  Micah came and reduced them to three; as it is written, “What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with they God?” (Micah vi,8).  Isaiah subsequently reduced them to two, as it is said, ‘Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye justice and to rightousness” (Isaiah lvi.I)…Lastly came Habakkuk and reduced them to one; as it is said,  “The righteous shall live by his faith.” (Hab. ii,4) (Mak 24a)

The Sages pointed out that faith was the distinquishing feature in the lives of the heroes of the Bible and also of Israel by which they merited the special favour of God.  “Great is the faith with which Israel believed in Him Who spake and the world came into being.”

B’Resheet /Genesis 1

1     In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

6 Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

7 God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.

8 God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

9 Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

10           God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good.

11           Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so.

12           The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

13           There was evening and there was morning, a third day.

         14          Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

15           and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.

16           God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

17           God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

18           and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.

19           There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

20          Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.”

21           God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

22           God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

23           There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

24          Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so.

25           God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

26          Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27           God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28           God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

         29           Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

30          and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.

31           God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

The Earth and the Universe came into being by Words spoken by G-d.

Just think about it, everything you see, feel, smell, hear and taste were created by G-d speaking it into existence.    We have been created in His image and His likeness to speak forth faith filled words to see His will come to pass on the Earth.

Did not Yeshua say in Luke 17:6 and Matthew 17:20

6  And the Lord answered, If you had faith (trust and confidence in God) even [so small] like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots, and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you.[5]

20  He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.[6]

Yeshua is saying that Faith can move mountains if we trust and have confidence in G-d and His Word.  It only takes a seed of faith the size of a tiny mustard seed[i] ,“If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain MOVE AND IT WILL MOVE!”

Faith/Trust is defined as follows in Websters Dictionary[7]

Our faith is based upon the Character, ability, strength, truth and faithfulness of Yahweh and His Holy Torah/Word, Baruch HaShem Adonai, Blessed be He.  Our faith is based upon the integrity of The Torah/Word its Character, ability, strength and truth. The Torah/Word of G-d states this fact

Hebrews 6:13

13 For when God made his promise to Avraham, he swore an oath to do what he had promised; and since there was no one greater than himself for him to swear by, he swore by himself[8]

And Hebrews 6:18

18 This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us].[9]

So therefore, because G-d has sworn by Himself, for there is no greater, we can have full confidence and assurance that His Word will be fulfilled in our lives, because He is watching over “HIS WORD” to perform it.

You can not separate G-d from His Word, they are one!

It is this Faith/Trust in Yahweh that put these Hebrew men and woman of old into G-ds Hall of Faith.  They simply believed G-d, and obeyed his word as an act of their faith/trust.  They put their entire trust/faith In Him, based upon His Torah/Word.

THE INTEGRITY OF THE WORD[10]

I.         The Torah/Word is G-d speaking to me personally

Living Bible   Hebrews 4:12  For whatever God says to us is full of living power: it is sharper than the sharpest dagger, cutting swift and deep into our innermost thoughts and desires with all their parts, exposing us for what we really are.

New Century Version    Hebrews 4: 12  God's word is alive and working and is sharper than a double-edged sword. It cuts all the way into us, where the soul and the spirit are joined, to the center of our joints and bones. And it judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts.

NIV     Hebrews 4: 12  For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

NIV  Jeremiah 5:14  Therefore this is what the LORD God Almighty says: "Because the people have spoken these words, I will make my words in your mouth a fire and these people the wood it consumes.

II.   The Torah/Word is our contact with G-d

John 16:7-10  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9  Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

III. We are convicted by the Torah/Word of G-d

(John 8:44 NCV)  You belong to your father the devil, and you want to do what he wants. He was a murderer from the beginning and was against the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he shows what he is really like, because he is a liar and the father of lies.

(John 8:45 NCV)  But because I speak the truth, you don't believe me.

(John 8:46 NCV)  Can any of you prove that I am guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me?

(John 8:47 NCV)  The person who belongs to God accepts what God says. But you don't accept what God says, because you don't belong to God."

(1 John 3:10 NIV)  This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

IV. We are recreated by the Torah/Word of G-d

(James 1:18 NCV)  God decided to give us life through the word of truth so we might be the most important of all the things he made.

(John 3:3 NCV)  Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, unless one is born again, he cannot be in God's kingdom."

(John 3:4 NCV)  Nicodemus said, "But if a person is already old, how can he be born again? He cannot enter his mother's body again. So how can a person be born a second time?"

(John 3:5 NCV)  But Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, unless one is born from water and the Spirit, he cannot enter God's kingdom.

(John 3:6 NCV)  Human life comes from human parents, but spiritual life comes from the Spirit.

(John 3:7 NCV)  Don't be surprised when I tell you, 'You must all be born again.'

(John 3:8 NCV)  The wind blows where it wants to and you hear the sound of it, but you don't know where the wind comes from or where it is going. It is the same with every person who is born from the Spirit."

(1 Pet 1:23 NIV)  For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

(2 Cor 5:17 NCV)  If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!

(2 Cor 5:18 NCV)  All this is from God. Through Christ, God made peace between us and himself, and God gave us the work of telling everyone about the peace we can have with him.

V.    Our Minds are renewed by the Torah/ Word of G-d

(Rom 12:2 KJV)  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

(Col 3:10 NIV)  and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

(James 1:22 NIV)  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

VI. We are indwelt by the Torah/Word of G-d

(Col 3:16 KJV)  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

(John 15:7 KJV)  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

(Eph 3:17 NCV)  I pray that Christ will live in your hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built on love.

VII. We are Built up with the Torah/Word of G-d

(Acts 20:32 NCV)  "Now I am putting you in the care of God and the message about his grace. It is able to give you strength, and it will give you the blessings God has for all his holy people.

VIII. We Are Healed by the Torah/Word of G-d

(Psa 107:20 KJV)  He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. (saved from dying)

(Isa 53:4 NCV)  But he took our suffering on him and felt our pain for us. We saw his suffering and thought God was punishing him.

(Isa 53:5 NCV)  But he was wounded for the wrong we did; he was crushed for the evil we did. The punishment, which made us well, was given to him, and we are healed because of his wounds.

(Jer 1:12 NCV)  The LORD said to me, "You have seen correctly, because I am watching to make sure my words come true."

(2 Cor 5:21 TLB)  For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God's goodness into us!

(Mark 16:17 NCV)  And those who believe will be able to do these things as proof: They will use my name to force out demons. They will speak in new languages.

(Mark 16:18 NCV)  They will pick up snakes and drink poison without being hurt. They will touch the sick, and the sick will be healed."

IX. We know the Father through the Torah/Word of G-d

(John 16:27 NIV)  No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

(John 16:28 NIV)  I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."

(John 17:23 NCV)  I will be in them and you will be in me so that they will be completely one. Then the world will know that you sent me and that you loved them just as much as you loved me.

(John 14:23 NIV)  Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

(Mat 6:31 NCV)  Don't worry and say, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?'

(Mat 6:32 NCV)  The people who don't know God keep trying to get these things, and your Father in heaven knows you need them.

(Mat 6:33 NCV)  The thing you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you.

X.    Faith Comes through the Torah/Word of G-d

(Rom 10:8 NIV)  But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:

(Heb 12:2 NIV)  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

(Mark 16:18 NCV)  They will pick up snakes and drink poison without being hurt. They will touch the sick, and the sick will be healed."

(John 15:16 NCV)  You did not choose me; I chose you. And I gave you this work: to go and produce fruit, fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you anything you ask for in my name.

(2 Cor 5:7 NIV)  We live by faith, not by sight.

(2 Cor 5:7 NCV)  We live by what we believe, not by what we can see.

XI. The Torah/Word of G-d in our Lips

(Rom 10:9 NCV)  If you use your mouth to say, "Jesus is Lord," and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.

(Rom 10:10 NCV)  We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we use our mouths to say that we believe, and so we are saved.

(Prov 3:5 NIV)  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

(Prov 3:6 NIV)  in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

XII. Feeding on the Torah/Word of G-d

(Mat 4:4 NIV)  Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

(Jer 15:16 KJV)  Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

(Psa 78:24 NIV)  he rained down manna for the people to eat, he gave them the grain of heaven.

(Psa 78:25 NIV)  Men ate the bread of angels; he sent them all the food they could eat.

(Job 23:12 NIV)  I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.

Everyman’s Talmud – Faith and Prayer[11]

“We are informed that “Men of Faith” were highly esteemed in Israel.  They were men who placed implicit trust in God at all times and in all circumstances.  The fact was deplored that ‘since the Temple was destroyed, men of faith have ceased’ (Sot, 1x,12).

What was understood by such faith may be gathered from the remark: “Whoever has a morsel of bread in his basket and says; “What shall I eat to-morrow?” belongs only to those who are small of faith.”  (Sot 48b)

Yeshua said in Mattityahu 6:28-33

Mat 6:28  And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

Mat 6:29  And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Mat 6:30  Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Mat 6:31  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Mat 6:32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Mat 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
