Meditation
Verse
1 Peter 1:13-15 Complete Jewish Bible
13 Therefore, get your minds ready for
work, keep yourselves under control, and fix your hopes fully on the gift you
will receive when Yeshua the Messiah is revealed. 14 As people who
obey God, do not let yourselves be shaped by the evil desires you used to have
when you were still ignorant. 15 On the contrary, following the Holy
One who called you, become holy yourselves in your entire way of life; 16 since
the Tanakh says,
“You are
to be holy because I am holy.”[2]
Quote Of The Day:
Stewertant Bible School Scotland
“What do these
sacred feasts commemorate? The answer is they are the spiritual answers of
Yahweh’s mightiest deeds. Each and
every one of them being an eternal memorial of some distinct, divine
accomplishment in the great program of salvation.”
Deborah’s Drash Commentary:
Understanding the Passover/Pesach Season[3]
Part V
8. The whole assembly shall kill it
Exodus [Shemot]
12:6
6 ‘You
shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole
assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight.[4]
Spiritual Application (Halacha). Every person who has ever lived on planet Earth and sinned
is guilty of killing Yeshua because He died for all sinners
Romans 3:10,23
10 As it is
written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and
conscientious, no, not one. [Ps. 14:3].[5]
No human being had the power to take His life
John[Yochanan]
10:17-18
17
For this [reason] the Father loves Me, because I lay down My [own]
life—to take it back again.
18 No one
takes it away from Me. On the contrary, I lay it down voluntarily. [I put it
from Myself.] I am authorized and have power to lay it down (to resign
it) and I am authorized and have power to take it back again. These are
the instructions (orders) which I have received [as My charge] from My Father.[6]
Therefore, Yeshua laid down His
life for us by His own free will. There has been a misplaced accusation over
the years that the Jews were the people who killed Yeshua. As a
result, they have suffered horrendously over the centuries. To my beloved
Jewish friends who are reading this book, I ask you with sincere repentance (teshuvah):
Please forgive those who are ignorant of the truth. The truth is that I
killed Yeshua, as did everyone who ever lived on planet Earth, because
He died for my sins!
Romans
5:8-12
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in that
the Messiah died on our behalf while we were stiil sinners. 9 Therefore,
since we have now come to be considered righteous by means of his bloody
sacrificial death, how much more will we be delivered through him from the
anger of God’s judgment! 10 For if we were reconciled with God
through his Son’s death when we were enemies, how much more will we be
delivered by his life, now that we are reconciled! 11 And not only
will we be delivered in the future, but we are boasting about God right now,
because he has acted through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, through whom we have
already received that reconciliation.
12 Here
is how it works: it was through one individual that sin entered the world, and
through sin, death; and in this way death passed through to the whole human
race, inasmuch as everyone sinned.
Messianic Fulfillment. A whole congregation of people was involved in the death
of Yeshua. The Gospels of Matthew (Mattityahu), Mark, Luke,
and John (Yochanan) show how the Sanhedrin, the priests, the Romans,
and the people of Israel all clamored for the crucifixion of Yeshua
and for His blood to be shed
Matthew [Mattityahu] 27:17,20-22,25;
17
So when they had
assembled for this purpose, Pilate said to them, Whom do you want me to set
free for you, Barabbas, or Jesus Who is called Christ?[7]
20 But the chief priests and the elders
prevailed on the people to ask for Barabbas, and put Jesus to death.
21
Again the governor
said to them, Which of the two do you wish me to release for you? And they
said, Barabbas!
22
Pilate said to them,
Then what shall I do with Jesus Who is called Christ?[8]
25 And all the people answered, Let His blood
be on us and on our children! [Josh. 2:19].[9]
Acts 4:26-28
26 The
kings of the earth took their stand in array [for attack] and the rulers were
assembled and combined together against the Lord and against His
Anointed (Christ, the Messiah). [Ps. 2:1, 2].[10]
9.
The
blood must be applied to the door
Exodus [Shemot] 12:7,13,22.
7 Moreover, they shall take
some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the
houses in which they eat it.[11]
13 The
blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the
blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when
I strike the land of Egypt.[12]
22 “You
shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and
apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two
doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until
morning.[13]
Spiritual Application (Halacha). Those who believe in the Messiah are the house of G-d
Ephesians 2:19; CJB
19 So
then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers. On the contrary, you are fellow-citizens
with God’s people and members of God’s family[14]
I Timothy
3:15; CJB
15 so
that if I am delayed, you may know how one should behave in the household of
God, which is the Messianic community of the living God, the pillar and support
of the truth.[15]
Hebrews 3:6
CJB
6 But
the Messiah, as Son, was faithful over God’s house.
And we are that house of his, provided we hold firmly to the courage and
confidence inspired by what we hope for.[16]
The only way into the house of G-d is through the shed blood
of the Messiah Yeshua, who is the Door
John [Yochanan]
10:7-9
7 So
Yeshua said to them again, “Yes, indeed! I tell you that I am the gate for the
sheep. 8 All those who have come before me have been thieves and
robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. 9 I am the gate; if
someone enters through me, he will be safe and will go in and out and find
pasture.[17]
10.The body of the lamb must be eaten
Exodus [Shemot] 12:8-10
Exo 12:8 And they shall
eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter
herbs they shall eat it.
Exo 12:9 Eat not of
it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roast with fire; its head with its
legs and with the inwards thereof.
Exo
12:10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; but that
which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Spiritual Application (Halacha). Both the body and blood of the lamb speak of the body and
blood of Yeshua
Matthew [Mattityahu]
26:26-28
26 While
they were eating, Yeshua took a piece of matzah, made the b<rakhah,
broke it, gave it to the talmidim and said, “Take! Eat! This is my body![18].
We spiritually eat of the body of the
Lamb (Yeshua) when we eat of His body (today represented by the
bread), which spiritually is the Word of G-d
Luke 11:3;
4:4
Luk 11:3 Give us
day by day our daily bread. (spiritual Food)
4 Yeshua answered him, “The Tanakh says, ‘Man
does not live on bread alone.’ ”[19] (natural food)
By following the Word of G-d and obeying
the commandments (mitzvot) of G-d with sincerity of heart, we eat
(spiritually) of His body.
a) It must be eaten the same night
Exodus [Shemot] 12:8
Exo 12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with
fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Yeshua was crucified, suffered, and died
the same night.
b) It must be eaten with unleavened bread
Exodus [Shemot] 12:8
Exo 12:8 And they
shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and
unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
c) Leaven speaks of sin
1
Corinthians 5:6-8
6 Your
boasting is not good. Don’t you know the saying, “It takes only a little chametz
to leaven a whole batch of dough?” 7 Get rid of the old chametz,
so that you can be a new batch of dough, because in reality you are unleavened.
For our Pesach lamb, the Messiah, has been sacrificed. 8 So
let us celebrate the Seder not with leftover chametz, the chametz
of wickedness and evil, but with the matzah of purity and truth.[20]
Unleavened bread is without sin. As
believers, we are instructed to live holy (unleavened) lives before G-d
Leviticus [Vayikra]
11:44; 19:2;
Lev
11:44
For I am Jehovah your God: sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye
holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of
creeping thing that moveth upon the earth.
Lev 19:2 Speak unto
all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be
holy; for I Jehovah your God am holy.
1 Peter [Kefa]
1:15-16).
15 On the contrary, following the Holy One who called
you, become holy yourselves in your entire way of life; 16 since the
Tanakh says,
“You are to be holy because I am holy.”[21]
d) It must be eaten with bitter herbs
Exodus [Shemot] 12:8).
Exo 12:8 And they
shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Spiritual
Application (Halacha). To those who have accepted the
Messiah into their lives, bitter herbs speak of two things. First, they speak
of the bondage and burdens we experience while living in this world (a type of
Egypt) before we accepted Yeshua into our lives. This burden of sin is
placed on us by satan (Ha satan) when we yield to his lies and
deception, and then sin because of our own evil desires. Second, the bitter
herbs speak of the bitter things that come into our lives after we accept Yeshua
and attempt to follow Him on a daily basis.
Messianic Fulfillment. For Yeshua,
dying on the tree was a bitter experience because He had to pay for man's sin
with His sinless life.
e) The lamb must be roasted in fire
Exodus
[Shemot] 12:8
Exo 12:8 And they shall
eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire,
and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Spiritual Application (Halacha). Fire speaks of judgment, refining, and purification. Our
faith (emunah) is judged and tested by fire so it can be refined and
purified and come forth as pure gold
Zechariah 13:9;
And I will
bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined,
and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear
them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.
James [Ya'akov] 1:12;
12 How
blessed is the man who perseveres through temptation! For after he has passed
the test, he will receive as his crown the Life which God has promised to those
who love him.[22]
1 Peter [Kefa] 1:7;
7 Even
gold is tested for genuineness by fire. The purpose of these trials is so that
your trust’s genuineness, which is far more valuable than perishable gold, will
be judged worthy of praise, glory and honor at the revealing of Yeshua the
Messiah.[23]
Revelation 3:18
18 My
advice to you is to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich;
and white clothing, so that you may be dressed and not have to be ashamed of
your nakedness; and eyesalve to rub on your eyes, so that you may see. [24]
f)
It must not be sodden with water. The gospel (basar) of Yeshua
must not be watered down
Mark 7:9,13;
9 Indeed,”
he said to them, “you have made a fine art of departing from God’s command in
order to keep your tradition!”
13 Thus,
with your tradition which you had handed down to you, you nullify the Word of
God! And you do other things like this.”[25]
2
Timothy 3:5
5 as they retain the outer form of religion but deny
its power.Stay away from these people![26]
f) The head, legs, and other parts of
the lamb must be eaten.
Spiritual Application (Halacha). Those who believe in Yeshua must feed on the mind
of Yeshua
Philippians 2:5;
5 Let
your attitude toward one another be governed by your being in union with the
Messiah Yeshua:[27]
1 Corinthians 2:16;
16 For
who has known the mind of Adonai?
Who will counsel him?
But we have the mind of the Messiah![28]
Romans 12:2;
2 In
other words, do not let yourselves be conformed to the standards of the >olam
hazeh . Instead, keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of
your minds; so that you will know what God wants and will agree that what he
wants is good, satisfying and able to succeed. [29]
Ephesians 4:21-23;
21 If
you really listened to him and were instructed about him, then you learned that
since what is in Yeshua is truth, 22 then, so far as your former way
of life is concerned, you must strip off your old nature, because your old
nature is thoroughly rotted by its deceptive desires; 23 and you
must let your spirits and minds keep being renewed, 24 and clothe
yourselves with the new nature created to be godly, which expresses itself in
the righteousness and holiness that flow from the truth.[30]
Hebrews
8:10
2 There
he serves in the Holy Place, that is, in the true Tent of Meeting, the one
erected not by human beings but by Adonai.[31]
The legs speak of our walk (halacha)
Colosians
2:6
6 Therefore,
just as you received the Messiah Yeshua as Lord, keep living your life united
with him[32]
How are the believers in Yeshua
to walk?
Romans 6:4
14 For
sin will not have authority over you; because you are not under legalism but
under grace.[33]
Romans 8:1,4;
8 1 Therefore,
there is no longer any condemnation awaiting those who are in union with the
Messiah Yeshua. 2 Why? Because the Torah of the Spirit, which
produces this life in union with Messiah Yeshua, has set me free from the “Torah”
of sin and death. 3 For what the Torah could not do by
itself, because it lacked the power to make the old nature cooperate, God did
by sending his own Son as a human being with a nature like our own sinful one.
God did this in order to deal with sin, and in so doing he executed the
punishment against sin in human nature 4 so that the just
requirement of the Torah might be fulfilled in us who do not run our
lives according to what our old nature wants but according to what the Spirit
wants[34]
2
Corinthians 5:7;
7 for
we live by trust, not by what we see. [35]
Galatians
5:16;
16 What
I am saying is this: run your lives by the Spirit. Then you will not do what your
old nature wants.[36]
Ephesians 2:10
10 For
we are of God’s making, created in union with the Messiah Yeshua for a life of
good actions already prepared by God for us to do.[37]
Ephesians 5:2,8
2 and live a life of love, just as also the Messiah
loved us, indeed, on our behalf gave himself up as an offering, as a
slaughtered sacrifice to God with a pleasing fragrance. 3 Among you
there should not even be mentioned sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity,
or greed; these are utterly inappropriate for God’s holy people. 4 Also
out of place are obscenity and stupid talk or coarse language; instead, you
should be giving thanks. 5 For of this you can be sure: every
sexually immoral, impure or greedy person—that is, every idol-worshipper—has no
share in the Kingdom of the Messiah and of God. 6 Let no one deceive
you with empty talk; for it is because of these things that God’s judgment is
coming on those who disobey him. 7 So don’t become partners with
them!
8 For
you used to be darkness; but now, united with the Lord, you are light. Live
like children of light,[38]
Colossians 1:10
10 so
that you may live lives worthy of the Lord and entirely pleasing to him, being
fruitful in every good work and multiplying in the full knowledge of
God. [39]
Colossians 4:5;
5 Behave
wisely toward outsiders, making full use of every opportunity—[40]
1 Thessalonians 4:1;
4 1 Therefore,
brothers, just as you learned from us how you had to live in order to please
God, and just as you are living this way now, we ask you—indeed, united with the
Lord Yeshua, we urge you—to keep doing so more and more. [41]
1 John [Yochanan] 1:7;
7 But
if we are walking in the light, as he is in the light, then we have fellowship
with each other, and the blood of his Son Yeshua purifies us from all sin.[42]
2 John 1:6;
6 Moreover,
love is this: that we should live according to his commands. This is the
command, as you people have heard from the beginning; live by it![43]
3 John 1:4.
4 Nothing
gives me greater joy than hearing that my children are living in the truth.[44]
