1:12-14 The Amplified Bible
12
Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to
share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in
the Light.
13 [The Father] has delivered and drawn
us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has
transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
14 In Whom we have our redemption through
His blood, [which means] the forgiveness of our sins.[2]
Quote Of The Day:
“There is only
one primary and fundamental reason for divine deliverance from bondage – so
that G-d’s people can worship Him!”
Deborah’s Drash Commentary:
Our Union In Messiah/Christ
Eccl. 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one because they have
a good return for their labor.
10 For if either of
them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls
when there is not another to lift him up.
11 Furthermore, if
two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?
12 And if one can
overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is
not quickly torn apart.[3].
That threefold cord is
a symbol for strength. For example, a piece of twine is made up of
many pieces of single strands. One
thread alone can be easily broken with your bare hands (try it), but when you
join that one piece of thread with many pieces of thread you have a strong
piece of twine which is not easily broken.
In the spirit realm we
by ourselves are not strong, and if we have no
prayer life, no fellowship with other believers, do not study the
Torah/Word or abide in Messiah/Christ we can easily be broken.
But, when we walk in
fellowship by prayer and study the Torah/Word and are worshipping together with
other believers in a Messianic/Christian Congregation we have strength and we cannot be easily broken. When we live in the power of the Father/Yahweh, the Son/Yeshua and the Ruach
Ha Kodesh/Holy Spirit, we are a strong
cord that can not be easily broken, and
in fact we are stronger, then the strongest piece of rope that can be found,
anywhere!
Knowing who you are in
Messiah/Christ and confessing these truths daily, brings spiritual strength to
your life. We can be secure knowing
our position in the Lord, not because
of what we have done, but because of
what He has done for us.
#1. We Need to Abide in
Messiah/Christ at all times!
John 15:1 -10
I AM the True Vine, and My Father is the
Vinedresser.
2 Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit
[that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and
repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear
more and richer and more excellent fruit.
3 You are cleansed and pruned already,
because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with
you].
4 Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live
in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself
without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear
fruit unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever
lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me
[cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.
6 If a person does not dwell in Me, he is
thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered
up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me]
and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask
whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
8 When you bear (produce) much fruit, My
Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove
yourselves to be true followers of Mine.
9 I have loved you, [just] as the Father has
loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me].
10 If you keep My commandments [if you continue
to obey My instructions], you will abide in My love and live on in it,
just as I have obeyed My Father’s commandments and live on in His love.[4]
Abide according to
Strongs Concordance in the Greek is 3306. meno, men'-o; a prim. verb; to stay
(in a given place, state, relation or expectancy):--abide, continue, dwell, endure,
be present, remain, stand, tarry.
·
It was the Oriental custom in the Bible Lands to Prune
the grapevine. Before the arrival of
springtime, the keeper of the vineyard prunes off every superficial branch,
every branch that is sickly or feeble, so that the sap may flow into the healthy
ones that will bear fruit. The branch
that is located nearest the trunk or root usually bears the most grapes.
(Manners & Customs of Bible Lands Fred H. Wight)
Jesus used this
practice as an illustration of the importance of abiding in Him. The more and closer we abide to Him, the
more fruit we will produces.
1 John 2:6 Whoever
says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct
himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.[5]
If we are abiding in
Messiah/Christ, then we will walk in His footsteps.
1 John 2:28
And now, little children, abide (live, remain permanently) in
Him, so that when He is made visible, we may have and enjoy perfect
confidence (boldness, assurance) and not be ashamed and shrink from Him
at His coming.[6].
If we abide in
Messiah/Christ, we can have confidence and stand before him when He comes in
His glory unashamed, that we obeyed His Torah/Word. When He returns, is He going to find people who are obeying the
Torah/Word, who are walking by Faith/Trust in Him or a sickly, feeble, defeated
Messianic Believer? It your choice!
1 John 3:6 No one who
abides in Him [who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to
Him—deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one
who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized,
perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with
Him].[7]
If we are abiding in
Christ, we are not going to purposely sin,
because to really know Him as Lord and Savior, you will not want to sin,
but to live to please Him in everyway.
2 John 1:9 Anyone who
runs on ahead [of God] and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ [who is not
content with what He taught] does not have God; but he who continues to live in
the doctrine (teaching) of Christ [does have God], he has both the Father and
the Son.[8]
If we know we have sinned,
then we need to confess this before God and receive forgiveness through the blood of Jesus.
1 John 1:9 If we
[freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful
and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins
[dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all
unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought,
and action].[9]
2. We need to be indwelt by
the Ruach Ha Kodesh/Holy Spirit. The
Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit Abiding in Us!
Ezek 36:27 “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk
in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.[10]
G-d has give us His
Ruach Ha Kodesh/Holy Spirit, to help us
walk in the way that will please Him.
John 14:16-17
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter
(Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He
may remain with you forever—
17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot
receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and
recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you
[constantly] and will be in you.[11]
We have Ruach Ha
Kodesh/The Holy Spirit to comfort us and teach us and who abides in us.
Rom
8:9-11 9 But you
are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if
the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you].
But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His
[he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God]. [Rom. 8:14].
10 But if Christ lives in you, [then although]
your [natural] body is dead by reason of sin and guilt, the spirit is
alive because of [the] righteousness [that He imputes to you].
11 And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus
from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from
the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies
through His Spirit Who dwells in you[12]
That same power of the
Ruach Ha Kodesh /Holy Spirit that raised Messiah/Christ from the dead dwells in
us!
1 Cor 3:16 Do you not
discern and understand that you [the whole church at Corinth] are God’s
temple (His sanctuary), and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you
[to be at home in you, collectively as a church and also individually]?[13]
We are G-ds
temple, no curse can dwell in the
temple of God, no sickness, poverty or
lack is in the temple of G-d! It has no right to be there because where
G-d dwells there is no curse!
1 John 2:27
But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment, the
unction) which you received from Him abides [permanently] in you; [so] then you
have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as His anointing teaches
you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in
(live in, never depart from) Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him], just as
[His anointing] has taught you [to do].[14]
We have the annointing
abiding within us, to teach us all things. Thats why when we read the word of God we should thank Him for
the annointing that lives within to teach us and give us revelation knowledge
in His word.
3. The
Father is in the Son, the Son is in the Father, we are indwelt with Ruach Ha
Kodesh/The Ruach Ha Kodesh/Holy Spirit abiding within us.
John 14:20 At that time [when that day comes] you will know
[for yourselves] that I am in My Father, and you [are] in Me, and I [am] in
you.[15]
We are entwined like a
piece of cord, with The Father, The Son/Yeshua and Ruach Ha Kodesh/The Holy
Spirit. What a powerful cord that
is, that is why we can boldly confess
that we are strong in the Lord and in the power of His might! Because we are stron in
Messiah/Christ and knowing who we are In Him gives us strength!
John 17:23 I in them
and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united,
that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and
that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.[16]
Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have
shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah)
lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by
adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved
me and gave Himself up for me.[17]
John 14:10-14 Do you not believe that I am
in the Father, and that the Father is in Me? What I am telling you I do not say
on My own authority and of My own accord; but the Father Who lives
continually in Me does the (His) works (His own miracles, deeds of power).[18]
11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the
Father in Me; or else believe Me for the sake of the [very] works themselves.
[If you cannot trust Me, at least let these works that I do in My Father’s name
convince you.]
12 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if
anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things
that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the
Father.
13 And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever
you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], so that the Father may be
glorified and extolled in (through) the Son. [Exod. 3:14].
14
[Yes] I will grant [I
Myself will do for you] whatever you shall ask in My Name [as presenting all
that I AM].[19]
If you know Jesus, then you will know the Father. Jesus came and showed us heart of the Father and the love He has for
us.
John 16:27 For the Father Himself
[tenderly] loves you because you have loved Me and have believed that I came
out from the Father.[20]
John 10:30 I and the Father are One.[21]
John 10:38 But if I do them, even though
you do not believe Me or have faith in Me, [at least] believe the works and
have faith in what I do, in order that you may know and understand [clearly]
that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father [One with Him].[22]
John 17:11 And [now]
I am no more in the world, but these are [still] in the world, and I am coming
to You. Holy Father, keep in Your Name [in the knowledge of Yourself] those
whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We [are one].[23]
John
17:22 I have
given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may
be one [even] as We are one:
23 I in them and You in Me, in order that they
may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and
[definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as
You have loved Me.[24]
We are in Union with
Messiah, just as He is in Union with the Father and the Ruach HaKodesh.
Keep a piece cord/rope in your Bible to remind you
of the strength and union you have IN HIM!
